PRIME MINISTER BORIS JOHNSON VISITS THE RUTHERFORD DIAGNOSTIC CENTRE SOMERSET IN TAUNTON

Prime Minister Boris Johnson today paid a visit to the Rutherford Diagnostic Centre Somerset in Taunton which is one of the first community diagnostic hubs in England.

The centre is run by Rutherford Diagnostics, a subsidiary of Rutherford Health plc, in partnership with Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.


The Prime Minister praised the collaboration between Rutherford and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust which has delivered a “fantastic” centre.


During the visit, Boris Johnson said he was focused on clearing medical backlogs aggravated by the Covid-19 pandemic.


Speaking at the Rutherford Diagnostics Centre, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: “I am focused on what I think is the number one issue for British people and it is clearing the Covid backlogs, but also looking at what we can do with new techniques.”


WORKPLACE have worked in partnership with Rutherford Health for several years, delivering cleaning, housekeeping and M&E services to 5 of its locations. Taunton Diagnostics is the newest addition to our portfolio and we are so proud of what the team have achieved since they opened towards the end of last year.


Rutherford Diagnostics provides diagnostic services from the centre in Taunton which offers Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT), Ultrasound and X-Ray on equipment provided by Rutherford’s technology partner, Philips.


The additional capacity at the Rutherford Diagnostic Centre Somerset enables Somerset NHS Foundation Trust to increase its diagnostic capacity significantly.
