In a joint venture with MJM Industrial Ltd, we provided cleaning operatives to clean the Emirates model plane, Etihad Airways model within terminal 4, the Heathrow icon globe and Welcome to Heathrow entry signage.
The structures due to their very siting required attention to remove traffic film that was now becoming evident.
Having looked at the works (which initially it was felt that access machinery would be required to carry out the works) our proposed method of using a chemical to remove the initial film using telescopic applicators followed by rinsing with the hot reach and wash pole system proved both an effective and safe way to clean these iconic structures.
The hot water system works on the basis that it heats the water supply to 70 degrees Fahrenheit to produce ultra- pure water at zero parts per billion (0ppb) which is one thousand times purer than water at 0ppm (0ppm being the standard required for “spot free” finish) and because pure water cleans by dissolving dirt ions, it follows that water at 0ppb is capable of dissolving 1,000 times more dirt than water of 0ppm therefore leaving a spot free clean surface.
As the system is operated from the ground, this reduced the health & safety risk significantly, the time factor that would have been involved if cleaned by hand and the need for costly access equipment to be hired in.
