CASE STUDY.

BOND STREET STATION, CROSSRAIL UPGRADE.

The initial remit for the subcontract was to provide a 24 hours per day, 7 days per week cleaning service of the temporary purpose built welfare facilities situated directly above the construction site. The site is part of a major redevelopment to increase capacity and accessibility and to create an interchange with the Elizabeth line currently being constructed by Crossrail Ltd.

WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP.

The subcontract package for the cleaning service was awarded in June 2014 as we had worked for one of the contractors on many previous occasions including cleaning of both the building and the welfare facilities for them at a large Berkshire rail station from commencement until completion.

The unit consists of engineering offices, toilets, showering facilities and a kitchen / dining area over 3 levels and in the initial stages had a workforce of over 150 staff over each of the 2 shifts worked by the contractor.

CONSTANTLY EVOLVING.

Starting with 5 full-time operatives working the site on a rota basis of 3 during the day and 2 overnight, a variety of tasks were undertaken to keep the facility clean and functional for the staff that used it.

This also included providing a daily laundering and drying service of the mining staff’s uniforms when this aspect was in progress.

The 5 operatives remained consistent throughout the contract which proved invaluable as this has meant that the service level did not fluctuate with the arrival and training of new staff and benefited both ourselves and the contractor.

The project is now drawing to its conclusion and was reduced accordingly but we retain 2 full time daily operatives on the site.

BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS.

“When the challenge was diverting the services along Oxford Street, demolition of the OSD & tunnels the challenges have got no easier just more complicated and what a great team there is here to guide them challenges to success and I have work alongside with some great people.

It’s been a pleasure working with you I’m sure we will cross paths again.”
