Phyllis Court is a private members club situated in Henley, Oxon. It has 17 stunning, individual en-suite rooms of some of which offer amazing views of the river Thames.
In 2014, we were invited to discuss the provision Kitchen Porters and Housekeeping staff.
Henley is a very affluent area which can make it very difficult to recruit. By offering a higher than average hourly rates along with a minimum of 40 hours per week we could secure a permanent team along with a Kitchen Manager to support the Porters and liaise with the Head Chef and the Catering and Events Manager.
Staff benefit from full training, uniforms and even meals supplied by Phyllis Court whilst on duty.
Since 2014 we have supplied five full time Kitchen Porters who work in rotation. Shift patterns are worked from 7am through to midnight or later if events dictate. This can also include bank holidays and even Christmas Day.
Our Porters are responsible for the cleanliness of the large working kitchen of which caters for hundreds every day. They have been provided with full training including COSHH, manual handling and health and safety.
They are responsible for all the washing up that comes through the kitchen, the pot wash areas, the glass cleaning area, cleanliness of fridges, hard floor scrubbing and maintaining, general kitchen cleanliness.
Phyllis Court hosts weddings of which they have a separate kitchen to cater for these events. We often supply extra Kitchen Porters and staff at very short notice when they have large events on. We supply additional Kitchen Porters during Henley Regatta and Henley Festival. this can be anything from 10 to over 20 staff.
Phyllis Court have their own in-house housekeeping team but when they find themselves without their own staff, we step in to provide them with chambermaids. This role involves cleaning the hotel rooms to a 5 star standard along with all the communal areas.
The Housekeeping Manager has worked in many of the finest 5-star hotels in London of which she obviously has very high standards of which you would expect of a hotel of this calibre.
All chambermaids are provided with full training of bed making, cleanliness of bedrooms and washrooms, manual handling, COSHH and health and safety. We have supplied a full-time chambermaid/room attendant who was provided with accommodation on site, this is a great benefit of the role. The working shifts are mainly between 7am to 3pm over 7 days a week.
We are hoping to work closely in the future with Phyllis Court Club to supply receptionists, admin staff, grounds maintenance staff along with daily cleaning.
