CASE STUDY.

 

ADA COLLEGE FOR DIGITAL SKILLS.

We were invited to tender for the cleaning service at ADA College in North London ready for a September 2016 start when they moved into their new premises. The building consists of class rooms, washrooms, large reception, meeting rooms and canteen area.

WORKING TOGETHER.

We successfully bid for the contract and since we were awarded the initial agreement for the daily cleaning of 6 hours per day, we now provide a daily security guard, remote CCTV monitoring, key holding service and handyman service. We also provide the window cleaning service, washroom services as well all consumables. We are also currently quoting the College for the landscaping service of the grounds around the College.

CHALLENGES.

We were due to start the contract when the building works had been completed and the College was open to the students for the September intake of pupils. Unfortunately, the construction works overran by several weeks after the College opened. We therefore provided a team of staff for a number of builders cleans as well as sparkle cleans whilst the College was partially open to students, whilst maintaining a daily cleaning service for the parts of the College that the students were using.

SECURITY.

During the initial few months, there was no alarm or CCTV system installed at the site, so we provided security guards to the site 24 hours a day 7 days a week to ensure that the College was secure at all times.

Once the security system and CCTV was installed and monitored by our remote monitoring service, we continue to provide an evening security guard to the site from Monday to Friday and at regular events throughout the year.

BUILDING SERVICES.

Our handyman service also works regularly at the site maintaining the fabric of the building as well as carrying out handyman tasks such as hanging pictures and murals, putting up coat hooks and various signage amongst other site tasks.

WORKING IN PARTNERSHIP.

We have had an excellent relationship from the start of this contract, initially with the Project Director and Finance Director. The College has now employed a Full Time Operations Manager who we have a close working relationship with and is now our day to day contact.

INNOVATION.

Since the start of the contract we have introduced a number of pieces of equipment to ensure that regular deep cleans are carried out within the College and these pieces of equipment include scrubber dryers and floor buffing machines. The main ground floor has caused challenges from the start due to the nature of the floor finish which is designed to be covered, but the Deane of the College liked the metal effect floor and requested that it was not covered over. Using our floor expertise, we have designed a programme to maintain the floor to a high standard of cleaning whilst ensuring that the floor remains safe and non-slip.

We have the contract for a 3 year period, at which time the College will move to a much larger purpose built site nearby and we hope to again be successful in the tender for the facilities services at this prestigious new site.
